DMK App Terminates as soon as it connects

I just received my 11A (open the Amazon box 1 hr ago) and tried to check it out at home, i.e. with no boat network connected.

I find the following problem: when I hit "connect" (with Auto-connect off) I see the sequence of top-line messages "Listening..." immediately followed by "Connecting..." and then the application terminates immediately - I am sent back to the iOS (6.0.1 - I'm waiting for the dust to settle on 7.)

If I enable Auto-connect, the App terminates almost immediately after the first screen appears.

I know I can connect to the 11A (i.e. I have the network parameters right) because I've been able to use Mike Foley's DMK Setup to change the SSID of the 11A.

Also, iNavx reports:
"-->CONNECTING (UDP) - WAITING FOR NMEA DATA"
"--> CONNECTED"

Any ideas? DO I need to upgrade to iOS7? Does the DMK App need to "see" a boat data stream?

    Yes it does. I am responsible for finding these bugs and I did not find it while I was testing the new version of our app this summer. I have tested an updated version of the app and it does not crash like the iTunes version currently does. I expect an update of our app to be released on iTunes by 10/8/2013.

    However the fact that it crashes proves the box is working and that you are receiving data. Because of that I believe you have an "App Fighting" issue. Hopefully it will be corrected through a hard reset. (Touching the Seatalk to the ground wires and power cycle the box) or quitting other apps in the background.
