The box makes an Ad-Hoc connection sending data to static IP address(es). This type of connection is turned off on most Android products and can only be turned back on by rooting the device. This has been a frustrating fact of life for us at DMK and is the source of the issue with the Android device.

To connect a Windows 8 device so you can use software like Expedition, the device must be set up to listen for the static IP address. This is done by going into the "Control Panel" and selecting "Network Connections". Next pick the "Wireless Network Connection" and click on the "Properties" button. From the menu highlight "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP 4)" and click the "Properties" button on that page. On the next page select "Use the following IP Address" and type in the static IP address you would like to have the device listening to. (See the Owner's Manual for the IP addresses)

One issue you may run into is the settings need to be changed back to what they were before you can go back to surfing the internet. The DNS settings are particularly important to save and reinstall. I would suggest saving these settings in a file before you switch to a static IP so you can switch the computer back easily. To reinstall your old settings select "Obtain an IP Automatically" then click on the "Advanced" button in the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP 4)" window. Next click on the DNS tab and reinstall your DNS settings.
